Preston & Allie's Day at the Pool

Mom took Allie to the pool yesterday and Preston and I decided to tag along. Preston and Allie both LOVE to swim and had a lot of fun. I can't wait for Preston to get a little bigger so him and Allie can go to the water park here in town.

I'm 9 months old today!

Owie

Preston fell out of the wagon the other day at daycare and got his first owie. Didn't really seem to bother him and it certainly hasn't slowed him down!

Congratulations Nichole, Randy and big sister Allie!!

4th of July

Dustin had his 10 year reunion over the 4th so we headed out to Pierre. His grandma Trego was kind enough to come up from Winner to watch Preston for us while we went to the party. There wasn't much going on in Pierre on the 4th, so we went for a walk in the park by the river and then stopped at the legion for a beer and some photo ops! Thanks again grandma ... it was great spending the last couple weekends with you!

New Pool!!

We bought Preston a new pool this weekend. We figured we had to ... he loves the bath, loved the pool at Grandma and Grandpa Beringer's and he loves the pool at daycare. You can hook up the hose and then water sprays out the top of the turtle's head. He didn't care for it too much. Another time perhaps!

30th Anniversary Celebration

My parents and my aunt and uncle (Jan and Dave) both celebrated 30 years of marriage this year, so we had a huge party at the Goss Opera House in Watertown. It was a blast. Live music and great food. And so many wonderful people that came to help celebrate.

Preston's Spit Bubbles

Preston started doing this a couple days ago and he sure seems to get a kick out of it because he does it all the time!

I'm 8 months old today!!
And I started crawling last night!

The End of the Chair

Nichole gave us Allie's bouncy chair when Preston was born. He loved that chair. First, the vibrating/music thing broke. Preston didn't seem to mind too much, as he was more interested in bouncing when it broke. A few weeks ago the chair broke. Dustin did his best to rig it together and it worked ... for a bit. Last week, Preston was bouncing like there was no tomorrow and it snapped completely. There's no fixing it ...

So, we went out and bought him a new chair. He's still getting used to it. Preston isn't big on change. But he's learning to love it. It reclines when he wants to take a nap and while it doesn't bounce like the old one, it does rock. Plus it turns into a toddler rocking chair. Hopefully this one will last a while!

Updated Landscaping

Mom and I met up this afternoon and headed to Medary Acres Greenhouse and Lowe's. I needed some new annuals for the front of the house and wanted to find some stuff for the patio. She helped me get everything planted (mostly because I don't have a clue when it comes to plants, flowers, etc) and now we're ready for another summer! Thanks mom!!

I had impatiens here last year ... this year, begonias

My shrub from last year didn't make it, so we're trying this one (can't remember what it is, but it's one of mom's favorites)

Some New Guinea impatiens for the patio

More impatiens and next to that ... hopefully a head of lettuce! A seed paper came in my Kraft Foods magazine, so we're giving it a try.

A lovely petunia-like flower for the patio table.

Happy Mother's Day!

Before I was a Mom,
I never tripped over toys
or forgot words to a lullaby.
I didn't worry whether or not
my plants were poisonous.
I never thought about immunizations.

Before I was a Mom,
I had never been puked on.
Pooped on.
Chewed on.
Peed on.
I had complete control of my mind
and my thoughts.
I slept all night.

Before I was a Mom,
I never held down a screaming child
so doctors could do tests.
Or give shots.
I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.
I never sat up late hours at night
watching a baby sleep.

Before I was a Mom,
I never held a sleeping baby just because
I didn't want to put him down.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces
when I couldn't stop the hurt.
I never knew that something so small
could affect my life so much.
I never knew that I could love someone so much.
I never knew I would love being a Mom.

Before I was a Mom,
I didn't know the feeling of
having my heart outside my body.
I didn't know how special it could feel
to feed a hungry baby.
I didn't know that bond
between a mother and her child.
I didn't know that something so small
could make me feel so important and happy.

Before I was a Mom,
I had never gotten up in the middle of the night
every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay.
I had never known the warmth,
the joy,
the love,
the heartache,
the wonderment
or the satisfaction of being a Mom.
I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much,
before I was a Mom .
