4th of July Weekend

Vacation Project

Never one to just sit around and do nothing while on a week of vacation ... I FINALLY got our room painted, new bedding and pictures on the wall. I love it!!

Goofy Boy

Snapped this one just before we left for golfing in Freeman last Saturday. 

Dustin and I sure have enjoyed these last few days (yesterday was sushi, Thunder Road, some shopping and Bracco down in Sioux Falls; this morning was golfing!) and from what I hear, Preston is having the time of his life with Grandma and Grandpa Beringer, but I sure do miss this little boy. We head down to Sioux Falls tomorrow to pick him up and see Jeff and Cindy one last time before they head back East.

The perfect sentiment as I begin my week of vacation! Preston will be leaving tomorrow with his Grandma & Grandpa Beringer until Saturday.

Dustin & I are planning on getting some things done around the house, maybe a trip to Sioux Falls ... but mostly relaxing and hopefully sleeping in!

Quiet as a Mouse

I was doing the dishes last night and Preston was running in and out of his room playing. He suddenly got very quiet which made be very nervous. Preston isn't usually quiet and if he is, he's up to no good. So I went back to check on him and he was sitting in his chair reading a book. Too cute!

Memorial Day Boat Ride

We took Preston for his first ride in the boat on Memorial Day. He didn't care much for going fast and it was a little hard for him to sit with the life jacket on, but otherwise I think he liked it!

He even helped drive for a bit!

Landscaping Refreshed

New Stove!

Our old stove went up in smoke (literally) Thursday night about halfway through making supper. There was a noise and a puff of smoke ... and the circuit board was fried. 

While I was volunteering with the marathon Saturday morning, Dustin and Preston headed out to Lowe's to get a new one. We went with the smooth-top, same brand as our last one. I'm very excited and made some banana pancakes this morning to celebrate!

It's so hard to believe that Turner will be one in just a few short months, Allie will be four this year and Preston will be two. Time flies when you're having fun!

Let's try this again, shall we?

About two years ago (to the day I believe) we planted a red maple tree in our backyard. It didn't make it. :-(

We got another tree this year from my parents again (thanks for running those Arbor Day 5k's!). This one is a river birch. Keep your fingers crossed that this one makes it. There are already little buds on the tree which is a very good sign!

Learning to golf. It's really never too early. He has to support us in our retirement somehow, right?

Who doesn't love a good fort?!

It all started a few weeks ago when aunt Nichole watched Preston. She built him a fort and eventually he wandered in to it. Now he loves them so of course Dad had to build him one!

So handsome. But he wouldn't get rid of that darn pacifier. Oh well. We pick our battles in our house and that is certainly not one of them. At least not yet anyway. :-)

What a weekend. 

It all started Wednesday when Preston got sick at daycare. I got a phone call as I was shutting down my computer, so at least it was at the end of the day. He got sick one more time that night but seemed fine after that. Daycare ended up closing on Thursday (this was our back-up daycare, by the way). My sister graciously offered to take Preston for us. Allie had been sick during the week so Nichole didn't want to take them to another daycare. Dustin took Thursday afternoon off and spent it with Preston.

Dustin had Friday off so he could start on the bathroom. Our tub surround was in desperate need of replacement. So off to work I went and Preston went to daycare. Talked to Dustin mid-morning and found out that he was sick. Oh joy.

My good friend Emily was back in town (she lives in Shanghai) and Dustin agreed that I could go out even though he was sick since I never get to see her. Emily and I got back to our house shortly after 11. I was starting to not feel real great ...

Sure enough I got sick too. Every half hour until about 8 in the morning. My sister graciously took Preston ... again ... so I could try to sleep while Dustin and my father worked on the bathroom.

So here we are today. Still not feeling 100 percent, but I am feeling better. The tub surround has been installed, the bathroom cleaned up and I got the rest of the house cleaned up too. Laundry is going and now I'm off to paint a few spots in the bathroom.
