Marathon Weekend
The Brookings Marathon, Half Marathon and Relay was held a couple weekends ago and this year the Children's Museum was involved. Registration was held, and the Scotty Roberts 5K began, at the Children's Museum this year. After the 5K, the museum had a fun run for kids. The run took us around the museum, in to the Prairie play yard, passed mama and baby T-Rex and then finished in front of the museum. After the run, the kids were treated to ice cream cones! Preston was so excited for the run (but mostly the ice cream). We all had a blast. He did great, only slowing down when he went passed the dinosaurs. No surprise there!
The next morning I was at my usual post, directing runners at the split. It was a chilly morning but the rain held off until the last runner was in and the course was cleared.
My sister ran a 3-mile leg on a relay team (and did a great job!) and my uncle Don ran the marathon ... in just over four hours!
